Arjen Robben’s groin injury is not as serious as first expected and the winger will be back in action soon.

Robben’s long-awaited return at Groningen ended after half-an-hour with the winger suffering a groin injury.

The 36-year-old has had a scan and it has revealed that there is no muscle tear, meaning the injury is not as serious as first expected.

Speaking to Groningen TV, Robben said, “The damage is not too bad, I am very happy about that. I feared worse, but fortunately the muscle is not broken, there is no tear. So that’s hopeful.”

Robben is positive about the injury and is aiming to be back on the pitch soon, “In the end we got a hard blow, but plasters stick, cry out very quickly and keep going. I quickly turned the switch, but I prefer to look forward positively. You can be very cynical about it, but I look at it differently: I have taken really good steps.”
