klaassen bThe Daily Mail are reporting that scouts from the Premier League club chose Saturday’s game with NAC Breda to watch the hugely talented 20-year-old midfielder.

They will have been hugely impressed by what they saw after Klaassen wowed the crowd by netting an excellent hat-trick in a 4-0 win.

His goals have led to comparisons with ex-Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp, who also started his career with Ajax before becoming one of the biggest icons in Dutch football.

Klaassen has scored six goals in eight appearances so far this season, and has been one of the reasons for Ajax’s recent excellent form (six wins in a row) after a rocky start to the campaign.

The Eredivisie champions lost Christian Eriksen in the summer to Tottenham, but the emergence of Klaassen has eased the loss, and the Dutchman may turn out to be an even bigger prospect than the Dane.

After making his Netherlands u-21 debut this year, Klaassen is already being earmarked for a call-up to the full national team, while a place at next summers World Cup is not beyond possibility.
