The 28-year-old former Heerenveen, Liverpool and Stoke City attacker was a free agent after having his contract with United Arab Emirates side Al Ahli rescinded in November.
According to VI, Assaidi has a personal agreement to join FC Twente, and will put pen to paper on a one-and-a-half year contract with the club. He reportedly rejected offers from the MLS and the English Championship to sign for the Tukkers.
Assaidi will join up with his new teammates in January and will hope to help them towards a place in the Europa League. They currently lie 7th in the table.
