The newspaper believes the Premier League club are admirers of the Dutch midfielder, and boss Paul Lambert could make a move before the transfer window shuts tonight.
Toornstra has been Utrecht’s best player all season, netting 11 goals in 26 appearances for the club in all competitions. Last year the playmaker was rewarded for his good form with a call-up to the Dutch national side for the friendlies with China and Indonesia.
The 24-year-old started his career with ADO Den Haag, making over 100 league appearances for the club before joining Utrecht in the January transfer window last year.
Utrecht will be reluctant to let their star man go, with the club currently in poor form, and sliding down the table, but they have just completed the signing of Barcelona midfielder Fernando Quesada. Is he Toornstra’s replacement? We will find out by 11pm tonight.
Madness, I’m a Villa fan and I have this player in my team on football manager on the iphone.
He is a decent player but he cannot get into my team, I’ve tried to sell him numerous times and I just can’t get rid.
My midfield consists of Diego Reyes, Sandro, Gary Gardner, Willian, Jack Grealish, Ganso, Wilshere, Leon Gorezka, OScar, Graham Burke, Callum, Robinson and Javier Pastore. As you see 5 Villa youth players in there.
Also since Paul Lambert likes buying so many Strikers he should keep his eye on Daniel Daly from the youth and bring in Sergio Cascione while keeping Benteke and Viktor Fischer is also a great striker, He should also get rid of Kozek and Helenius they are terrible buys along with Bowery.
I’m now in 2016 with my team, played 185, eon 158 and drawn 27 losing 0.
If Paul Lambert wants future tips you guys can share my email with him and I’ll be happy to help.
As for Jens Toornstra on a serious note, he is probably better than all our current wingers and would add much needed creativity.
It’s just chat don’t think villa will get anyone in before window closes tonight looks a good little player we will have to wait and see
