locadia aBenteke has impressed a number of big clubs since joining Villa last season, with the Belgian international netting 28 goals in 50 appearances for the club.

The Premier League club fear that they could lose their star striker in January, with Liverpool linked, and have lined up Locadia as a potential replacement.

According to the Sunday People, Villa boss Paul Lambert went on a scouting mission to watch Locadia in action last week in the 1-1 draw with Heerenveen.

The 20-year-old Netherlands U21 international made a great start to his PSV career last season, netting an impressive hat-trick in his first league appearance against VVV Venlo.

Since then Locadia has struggled to nail down a first team spot, but with Tim Matavz currently injured, the youngster has been given his chance to start.

In 16 games so far this season, Locadia has netted six times for the struggling PSV side that currently sits ninth in the Eredivisie.

With rumours that Tim Matavz, and Ola Toivonen are set to leave PSV in January, it is unlikely that PSV will allow Locadia to go as well, especially for the fee of £4 million quoted in the Sunday People.
