The midfielder is out of contract with Utrecht in the summer, but despite interest from abroad, Ayoub has decided to remain in the Netherlands with Feyenoord.

Ayoub is quoted by NOS saying,  ”When Feyenoord came in for me I knew that I wanted to go there. I also had contact with them in the past and I have always kept a close eye on them.

”I was also supporting them in the Champions League. I also do the same for all Dutch teams in Europe because it is important that Dutch teams do well.

”I am so pleased to get the chance to sign for a top three club in the Netherlands having worked so hard for so long. I often stated that the ideal step for me would be going to a top three club in the Netherlands and when I got the call I thought to myself finally all the hard work was not for nothing.

”I made a conscious decision to stay in the Netherlands because I have two small children and I have to think about my family. Also for my footballing development, it’s the best decision as I am only 23 years old.

”I have a lot of experience playing in the Eredivisie and now I will undertake a new challenge to go to a top three club where there is more pressure.

”I can understand the temptation for young Dutch players to move abroad. But for me what I wanted was to stay in the Netherlands.”
