The home side dominated from the start and Jelle ten Rouwelaar had to make a good save to deny Rasmus Elm giving AZ the lead with a close range header.
There was nothing the NAC keeper could do on 23 minutes when Steven Berghuis cut in from the right before unleashing a left footed drive into the net from just outside the box.
With the last action of the first half AZ went 2-0 up as Rouwelaar failed to stop Aron Johannsson’s back post header from creeping over the line.
The second half was much like the first with AZ dominating and they netted their third goal on 69 minutes with Berghuis sliding in at the back post after great work by Roy Beerens down the left.
NAC Breda were disappointing throughout the match, and the defeat sees them remain 12th, while AZ climb up one place to 7th.
