It took the home side only nine minutes to open the scoring as Jeffrey Gouweleeuw smashed the ball through Jan Seda’s legs at the back post
AZ attacked in waves, and extended their lead on 20 minutes when Seda could only parry Aron Johannsson’s effort and Nick Viergever slammed in the rebound.
Seda had to make a number of saves to keep AZ at bay for the remainder of the first half, but he was beaten again after 48 minutes with Steve Berghuis firing in from the right hand side of the box.
Berghuis then netted his second goal of the game on the hour mark with a stunning strike from outside the are which flew into the top corner.
Apart from heroics from Seda RKC did not turn up, and it was only because of the keeper that the score remained 4-0 for the last half hour, as he denies Johannsson a goal on numerous occasions.
The win keeps AZ three points behind 6th placed Heerenveen, while RKC sit 16th.
