AZ Alkmaar had scouts at Volendam’s match against Jong Ajax on Friday, and watched on as Muhren netted twice in a 5-0 win. With Aron Johannsson out through injury, AZ coach Marco van Basten has no forward, and the club have contacted Volendam in hope of completing a deal this week.

AZ director Earnest Stewart told Fox Sports, “It is true that we have reported in Volendam for Robert. He is one of the players in our image is to strengthen our attack. We find him interesting.”

Earlier this summer AZ were interested in signing ADO Den Haag forward Mike van Duinen, but he has proved to be too expensive for the Alkmaar side.
