AZ Alkmaar have announced the season-long loan of Club Brugge right-back Ricardo van Rhijn.

The 26-year-old left Ajax for Club Brugge last summer and made 29 appearances for the Belgians, scoring three times. Earlier this summer, van Rhijn announced his decision to leave Club Brugge and has now sealed a loan move to AZ Alkmaar.
The eight-time Netherlands international, joins AZ as a competitor to first choice full back Jonas Svensson, and director Max Huiberts expects van Rhijn to battle for a first team spot.
Huiberts told the AZ website, “Ricardo is a player who could basically be a starting player at AZ, he knows his role very well. We clearly explained this to him. It’s up to him to show he’s better than the others. “
