AZ Alkmaar has their replacement for Wout Weghorst with Bjorn Johnsen joining from ADO Den Haag on a four-year deal.

After Wout Weghorst departed for Wolfsburg, AZ identified Johnsen as his replacement but negotiations with ADO Den Haag were slow. Finally, the two clubs have come to an agreement, believed to be around €2 million, and Johnsen has penned his contract until 2022.

The 26-year-old told the AZ website, “I am very happy to be at such a nice club,’ says the striker. ‘Besides making goals and giving assists, I want to become a better player here. And for the team, I want to be the target man. I am no longer the youngest. I want to learn as quickly as possible and be important to the team. I have to be at my best here. “

Johnsen joined ADO Den Haag from Scottish side Heart of Midlothian last summer, and the Norwegian took to the Eredivisie quickly, netting nineteen goals. The Norwegian striker also has six caps for his country.
