bromBasaksehir finished fourth in the Turkish Super Lig behind the traditional top three of Galatasaray, Besiktas, and Fenerbahce last season, and AZ coach Jon van den Brom admitted to a “quick google” to find out more on the Istanbul side.

Van den Brom told the official AZ website, “What strikes me first is that they have a lot of experience. Their youngest defender was 28. That says a lot about the type of team we have in front of us. It’s a team of age, but with the necessary experience. ”

“That experience we do not have,”

“Whether we are favorites? I do not think you can designate a favorite. It will be a tough one.”

AZ plays the first leg in Alkmaar on the 30th of July with the return in Turkey a week later.
