It appeared last night that Krul was on his way to Watford on loan after ending his spell with Ajax, but the Premier League club took to long to get the deal completed and that has allowed AZ to swoop.
Krul has opted for the Alkmaar side, where chances of action are more likely than with Watford, and pending a medical he will join AZ until the end of the season. He will compete with Sergio Rochet for the number one shirt.
Heading out of AZ on transfer deadline day is Robert Muhren, who has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal wit Belgian side Zulte Waregem. The attacking midfielder/striker’s deal at AZ ended in the summer and this deal means the club will receive a fee for the 27-year-old.
