weghorst hee vitWeghorst will join AZ on a four-year contract, with an option for an additional year, after both clubs reached an agreement on a transfer fee thought to be in the region of €1.5 million euros. AZ have coveted Weghorst for some time, scouting him on several occasions. However, talks had been difficult with Heracles reluctant to sell the striker, but this week an agreement was finally reached to allow the player to move to the AFAS Stadion.

The arrival of Weghorst almost certainly means that Vincent Janssen, the Eredivisie top scorer last season, will depart for England following firm interest from London clubs Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. Although a deal hasn’t yet been reached for Janssen it is widely expected to be completed in the coming weeks with Weghorst signed to be his successor.

The Heracles striker, who joined from FC Emmen in July 2014, has scored twenty-four goals in seventy-four appearances, netting twelve goals in thirty-three appearances last season.
