A deal has been struck with Almere City to bring Vincent Janssen to Alkmaar, with the striker to undergo his medical on Thursday alongside goalkeeper Coutinho who is a free transfer from Excelsior. If no problems are found during the medical then official confirmation should follow in the next 24 hours.
Janssen was in excellent form for Almere City last season with the 21-year-old netting 19 goals in 34 appearances, but it was not enough to gain the club promotion. With the striker now a member of Netherlands U21 squad a move to the Eredivisie was key to further his career. Janssen will bolster AZ’s attack with American international Aron Johannsson set to miss the Europa league 3rd round qualifier at the end of July due to the Gold Cup, while Denni Avdic and Eli Babalj are set to leave.
With Esteban Alvarado also on his way out this summer, Sergio Rochet will be promoted to number one keeper and will be backed up by Coutinho, who joins after a stellar season with Excelsior.
