According to Voetbal International, AZ are preparing for life without star player Markus Henriksen, who is close to signing for Hull City, by launching a bid for long term target Bel Hassani. AZ have sent scouts to watch Bel Hassani in recent weeks, but the sale of Henriksen has forced the club to launch a concrete bid just days before the transfer window slams shut.
It is thought that Bel Hassani would favour a move to Alkmaar given that they have secured a place in the Europa League group stages, but Turkish club Çaykur Rizespor are also thought to be interested.
The Heracles Chairman, Jan Smit, commented on the speculation saying “It could go either way [transfer of Bel Hassani], but I think there is a solution.” If Bel Hassani joins AZ, he would be the second player this summer to make the move from Almelo to Alkmaar following Wout Weghorst’s departure for €1.5 million in July.
Bel Hassani is currently valued at around €2.75 million, so expect any fee for the player to at least meet this valuation.
