Ryan Babel was praised by Fulham head coach Claudio Ranieri after making his debut during the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The 32-year-old joined the Premier League strugglers this month and was immediately put in the starting eleven for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur.

Babel made a good impression during the first half and went close to scoring on two occasions. He was taken off after 55 minutes and then watched on as Tottenham sealed a 2-1 win in the last minute.

After the game, Ranieri said on the Dutchman, “Ryan was a big threat to the defense of Tottenham Hotspur. I am very pleased with that.”

On why he only played 55 minutes, Ranieri added, “Of course he can not finish for ninety minutes, because there was a winter break in Turkey. But I hope he can play ninety minutes within a month. ”

Babel himself said on the Fulham website, “It was tough, but it felt good to be back in the Premier League. I already know how tough this competition is. That late goal was very characteristic.”
