Ryan Babel is set to depart Besiktas on a free transfer next summer after the attacker failed to agree terms on a new deal.

The 31-year-old’s deal with the Turkish giants ends next summer but Besiktas approached Babel’s agent Winnie Haatrecht in November to discuss a new contract.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Haatrecht has confirmed those talks have stalled and that Babel will leave the club either in January or at the end of the season.

He said, “We have not come out, so in principle Ryan will stay with Besiktas until 30 June under his current contract, unless another rabbit is conjured out of the top hat.”

Haatrecht confirmed that there is plenty of interest in his client, who only has one goal at the moment, “His only goal is placement for the European Championship with Oranje and being present at that European Championship.”
