Juninho Bacuna has revealed that he has turned down a return to Groningen in order to fight for his place at Huddersfield Town.

The midfielder joined Huddersfield Town from Groningen in the summer but found first-team opportunities hard to come by in his first few months.

However, Bacuna has started the last two Premier League games and is prepared to reject any offers in January in order to stay at the Terriers.

He told Dagblad van het Noorden, “Several options have already been passed for after the winter break, including FC Groningen, but I said no to everything. I want to keep fighting here for my chance, especially now that I’ve been in the starting eleven for the first time.”

The 21-year-old has made six appearances for the club this season, including four in the Premier League.
