Jean-Christophe Bahebeck netted twice to earn Utrecht a 3-1 win over Heerenveen.

Utrecht went into the game on the back of two draws and a defeat in their last three games, and they fell behind in the 23rd minute on Saturday with Stijn Schaars netting a free kick.

However, the lead only lasted three minutes before Yassin Ayoub equalised with another fine free kick. Four minutes before the break, Utrecht turned the game around with Bahebeck racing onto a through ball before dribbling into the box and slotting past Martin Hansen.

Bahebeck then sealed the victory for Utrecht in the 63rd minute, with the on loan PSG forward stooping to head Robin van der Meer’s cross into the net.

Utrecht now climb to 7th and one place behind Heerenveen.
