Zakaria Bakkali scored twice as RKC Waalwijk came from behind to defeat AZ Alkmaar 3-1.

AZ’s form has been erratic recently but they made a strong start in Waalwijk and Jesper Karlsson fired them ahead in the ninth minute.

The hosts got themselves back into the game in fortunate circumstances after Hobie Verhulst allowed a poor strike from Ilias Bel Hassani to beat him and it was 1-1 at the break.

AZ were the stronger side but they couldn’t score and Zakaria Bakkali found the net in the 87th minute with a curled effort. The forward then capitalised on some poor goalkeeping by Verhulst to make it 3-1 in injury time.

RKC is now in 9th spot while AZ is 5th.
