Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has confirmed that Memphis Depay is still struggling from injury.

Memphis has been out injured since September and recently released a statement strongly denying claims in Spain that he was delaying his return in order to not suffer a setback ahead of the World Cup.

Barcelona have confirmed that the Dutch international will miss their midweek clash with Osasuna this week, meaning Memphis will not play a game before Netherlands begin their World Cup campaign against Senegal in two weeks.

Speaking at his press conference on Monday, Xavi said on Memphis and Jules Kounde, “They both have a small injury and are still suffering. They are not yet able to play for us. It is not a precaution for the World Cup,”
