Feyenoord have been chasing Bas Dost for weeks as they search for Graziano Pelle’s successor, but the forward was quoted by German magazine Kicker saying he thought a move back to the Eredivisie was a step back.
However the player’s agent Henk Nienhuis has told AD that the quotes in that article were nonsense, and that Dost is very interested in joining Feyenoord.
He said, “Talks with Feyenoord have been very positive,”
“We have sat around a table with Martin van Geel and Fred Rutten a couple of weeks ago in Zeist. The latter then very clearly told us what his plans are. Bas would fit it perfectly. ”
“He finds Feyenoord a fantastic club.”
Nienhuis went on to say that Dost would be willing to take a pay cut for a move to Rotterdam, but any move hinges on Wolfsburg finding a new forward. The agent also stated that the former Heerenveen star had rejected a move to Shakhtar Donetsk from Ukraine.
Feyenoord are in a rush to find a new striker with their Champions League qualifier against Besiktas looming, and they will be hoping to tie up a deal for Dost quickly.
