Sinkgraven joined Ajax back in 2015 from Heerenveen with a reputation as one of the most gifted young midfielders in the Netherlands.
However, Sinkgraven’s time at Ajax has been hindered by several injuries, while he was turned into a left-back by Peter Bosz during the 2016/17 season.
With Nicolas Tagliafico Ajax’s first-choice left back, Sinkgraven had little chance of playing time next season and Bosz has decided to bring him to Leverkusen. The Bundesliga side pays €5 million for the 23-year-old, who signs a contract until 2023.
Sinkgraven told the Leverkusen website, “This transfer is an exciting and motivating opportunity to play for a German top club after my time at Ajax. I am really looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga and of course the Champions League.”
