Riechedly Bazoer has been rescued from his hopeless situation with Wolfsburg after joining Porto on loan.

Bazoer left Ajax in 2017 to join Wolfsburg but has failed to nail down a regular spot in the Bundesliga side and could not count on any playing time this season.

The six times Netherlands international has now been rescued by Portuguese giants Porto, who have loaned the 21-year-old until the end of the season. There is an option to make the deal permanent.

Bazoer will now get the opportunity to fight for the Portuguese title and play in the Champions League. He told the club’s website, “Porto is a big club with a lot of history, where great players have played. When they called me, I was immediately interested. It all went very fast and I am happy to be here.

“I’m going to do everything to help the team. I am a box-to-box midfielder who can defend and score. I hope I can show that to the fans soon. In any case, I will give a 100% in the training sessions and matches.”
