A double from Riechedly Bazoer set Utrecht on their way to a comfortable 6-2 victory at VVV Venlo.

VVV went into the game on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw with NAC Breda at the weekend but they took the lead after 18 minutes. Johnatan Opoku slotted past David Jensen after a scramble in the box.

However, the lead only lasted four minutes before Bazoer was allowed to stride forward with the ball before firing Utrecht level.

VVV regained their lead before the break through Patrick Joosten but they fell apart in the second half.

Bazoer curled Utrecht level in the 53rd minute, before the visitors took the lead thanks to an own goal from Danny Post. Sean Klaiber cleverly outwitted Lars Unnerstall to make it 4-2 and in the 69th minute, Sander van de Streek made it five.

Just before the end, substitute Michiel Kramer made it 6-2 with his first goal for Utrecht.

The victory moves Utrecht to within a point of fourth placed Feyenoord, while VVV Venlo are 11th.
