The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the best talents in world football, following a number of impressive display in the Ajax first team over the last two seasons, but his days in Amsterdam now seem numbered.

The midfielder has fallen down the pecking order, since arrival of new coach Peter Bosz, with appearances being limited, leaving Bazoer warming the bench.

Crisis talks were held with club officials over the last few days but no assurances could be given to Bazoer. Therefore, his agent, and brother, Irchandly Bazoer, has now began to look for a transfer.

Irchandly told AD.nl, “I have contact with four clubs and asked them to devise a plan for Bazoer, AC Milan is one of them. We have to see what is best for his future and whether we will come to an agreement over the transfer fee.”

Ajax chief Maro Overmars insisted that the club had not received any formal offers for the midfielder and there is a place for Bazoer in the squad. He told AD.nl, “A strong selection is important, Bazoer’s misfortune is everyone is fit.”

It is thought that AC Milan are willing to part with around €13 million for the player, this is substantially short of the €22 million Ajax want for Bazoer, who is under contract until 2020.

Bazoer seems destined to leave Amsterdam this winter, it is just a question of which club manages to meet Ajax’s valuation of the player.
