Alfred Schreuder named an unchanged eleven from the 7-1 win over Excelsior last weekend, but his side got off to a slow start. Michiel Kramer thought he had made it 1-0 for RKC but his effort was ruled out for offside.
In the 22nd minute, Ajax led with Steven Bergwijn setting up Berghuis to fire into the net through the legs of RKC defender Shawn Adewoye. Shortly afterward, Davy Klaassen should have made it 2-0 but with the goal gaping, he could only fire straight at Adewoye.
Five minutes before the break, RKC equalised as Pelle Clement tapped in from close range. The hosts then threatened the lead but Remko Pasveer denied Thierry Lutonda.
Schreuder decided to make a double change at the break with Owen Wijndal replacing Daley Blind, while Florian Grillitsch came on for Edson Alvarez.
Berghuis made it 2-1 in the 56th minute with an excellent strike from just outside the box before Brobbey added a third after holding off Adewoye.
RKC came close to pulling one back through Kramer but Brobbey then sealed the victory in the 81st minute after finishing off an excellent pass from Berghuis.
Ajax remains top of the Eredivisie and they must now prepare for their clash with Liverpool in midweek. RKC is in 7th.
