The winger only started one Premier League game last season, but was called into the Netherlands squad as a late replacement for Jurgen Locadia. Berghuis went on to start two of the three games and impressed with two assists.
After a starring role against Austria, Berghuis told VI, “Two weeks ago no one had taken this into account, myself either. It was a difficult year at Watford. I trained hard and well, but got limited playing time. I felt helpless, but it turns out what confidence can do to you. It felt good to get out at Oranje.
Feyenoord have been linked with a move to sign the winger this summer, but Berghuis is still planning on winning his place at Watford, “I think Watford is still a great club. I do not want to give up and i will fight for my place, but there must be perspective. ”
“If there is not, I would look elsewhere where I can look forward to playing. I’ve also heard that Feyenoord are interested, but as far as I know, there is nothing concrete came in. We’ll wait, but I certainly still feel confident that I can succeed at Watford. “
He should look for somewhere else in EPL.He has said before that he doesn’t really fit into the Watford coach’s style of play. Why should he wait for that to change, or risk another season of being a bench player. I’m sure other EPL teams would want him.
C’mon Everton, sign him up, along with Janssen and Wijnaldum
Why? Because the coach has changed. Walter Mazzari has taken over, and he plays 3-5-2 or 3-4-3, the latter of which Berghuis would fit well.
