blind nedBlind spoke at his press conference where the Dutch national team are training for their upcoming international fixtures about the bizarre turn of events that have seen Bert Van Oostveen announce that he is leaving his post as the director of the KNVB while assistant Marco Van Basten has joined Dick Advocaat in leaving his post to join FIFA.

The coach said, ”The turn of events have been bizarre in terms of what has happened the last few weeks such a thing has never happened before in terms of the national team and KNVB. I knew the the transfer window was upon until tomorrow but I did not think it was open in regards to our technical staff.

”Naturally it is disappointing because you approach candidates about joining the setup and you hope that you can manage to achieve the objective together and also in terms of loyalty. I can imagine in the case of Marco Van Basten that such a proposal by FIFA would be interesting due to the fact he was approached by the biggest organ in world football to help with the renewing of their regulations and programs.

”I also spoke to Marco about this last week and stated that I wanted to finish the calendar year with him in the national setup unless I find another successor that I can continue with immediately and that is the agreement that I have made with Marco”.
