The chances of Netherlands qualifying for the European Championships next year took a major blow on Sunday after a 3-0 defeat to Turkey left them in fourth in Group A, with only two games remaining.
Coach Danny Blind said on the defeat to NOS, “We sell ourselves short by giving away goals so easily,”
“At the wrong times, in the early stages, we make mistakes. With that we played the Turks the cards.
“However, we also had chances, even more than Turkey. We didn’t reward ourselves. Luciano Narsingh got the same chance as the Turkish chance at 1-0, but we did not make that count.”
On chances of qualifying he added, “I still think we have enough quality, but it is no longer in our own hands. And that’s too bad. But Turkey still needs to face Iceland and Czech Republic.”
On a possible departure before next month’s qualifiers, “I do not think about that for a second.”
Quiting is the only good thing left for Blind to do.he went from bad to worse in every choise,he was one of the biggest failures in the entire dutch history.Im not dutch but i love dutch football, thats why i suffered a lot today.i mentioned before that klaasen and wijnaldum offer no cover for the defense,i would go for nigel dejong or even anita.de jong was a fondamwntal player in the 5 men midfield for van gaal, there is a reason why lens plays in the premier league and narsingh in the eredivisie and blind went for narsingh!!!!i would say a lot more but thats no use now!im hugely dissapointed!
This is a black day for Dutch football supports, when are we going to start playing the football the Dutch is reknowed for.
Most disappointed and gutted by the last two results.
