boerrigter cBoerrigter joined the Scottish champions in the summer after losing his place in the Ajax starting eleven, and was looking forward to facing his former side next week.

After the transfer, Boerrigter spoke of his determination to prove Ajax coach Frank de Boer wrong for allowing him to leave, but he will now miss the tie at Celtic park next Tuesday.

An injury to Boerrigter’s ankle will see him out for at least a week, meaning the winger should be fit to face his former side in the Amsterdam Arena in two weeks time.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Boerrigter admitted his disappointment at missing Tuesday’s crucial tie.

He said, “I am sick at having to miss the Ajax game. I would have loved to play in it.

“Unfortunately, a small piece of bone in my ankle is damaged. It is a real shame, of all the matches for me to miss it would have to be the one against Ajax.”

Both sides need a win to give themselves a chance of qualification with both Ajax and Celtic without a win in Group H so far.
