Jean-Paul Boetius is hoping for a recall to the Dutch national team after rediscovering form at Mainz.

The winger left Feyenoord for Germany in the summer and has fought his way into the starting line-up at Mainz. He has played a key role in their last five Bundesliga matches and as an attacking midfielder, instead of a winger.

Speaking to Kicker, Boetius said on his new position, ‘I did that sometimes in the youth of Feyenoord, but not much. More often, I was left-winger.”

Boetius currently has one cap to his name with Netherlands and he is still hoping for more, “I always say: What comes, that will come. The Dutch national team is still a goal for me, but Mainz now has priority. If I do well here, I might get a chance from the national team. “
