After spending a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Nicolai Boilesen is back from injury and ready to fight for a place in Ajax’s first team.

boilesen aSpeaking  to AD.nl, here is what the defender had to say about his injury, and finally coming back from it:

“I’ve never had doubts about returning. But if you have stopped playing  for half a year, it is interesting what happens in your head when you pull off a sprint of 30 meters.”

Now fit again the player hopes to be a stalwart for Frank de Boer’s side and it appears that the manager sees something in the young Dane, appointing him as 3rd captain earlier in preseason.

The 22-year-old made just 17 starts for Ajax in the Eredivisie, missing out on over half of his club’s matches during the second half of the season. He also missed out on the pivotal 6th Champions League group stage match against AC Milan where a win would have seen Ajax progress to the knockout stages.
