Ajax boss Peter Bosz has blamed a lack of courage and confidence for his side’s horror exit to Rostov in the Champions League.

bosz ajaThe Amsterdam side went into the second leg having drawn 1-1 at home, but were totally outplayed by their Russian opponents and limped out of the competition 5-2 on aggregate.

Afterwards, Bosz said, “We lacked courage and confidence.

“I quickly realized we were anxious. That was visible from minute one. The pressure was there of course. On the other hand, there are a few guys who have been through a lot. ”

“We have last week showed that we can play football well, now we let them penetrate our back four. We were short physically and give away free kicks from which they scored. We have caused our own problems.

Ajax now have to pick themselves up for this weekend’s trip to Go Ahead Eagles which is a must win game with the club already five points off the top spot in the Eredivisie. Reflecting on his start in Amsterdam, Bosz responded, I was not hired for an easy job. I will continue to analyze how to do it better.”
