On Saturday, Ajax recorded the biggest ever Eredivisie victory when they swept aside VVV-Venlo 13-0.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Bayer Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz, who used to coach Ajax, was asked about the game.
He said, according to Voetbal International, “I have no explanation for such a result, even though VVV played with ten men after the red card. I think this is bad for the image of Dutch football. Everyone is talking about this match.”
I can understand this,as an Ajax fan in the UK I regularly find people who think that Ajax are the only Dutch team & that they win everything every season!
It’s bad for more than just the result and the fact that VVV Venlo conceded 13 goals, but the fact that ten Haag didn’t make the team hold back. You don’t play boring football but you don’t embarrass another team like that either. Change formations, try something new, bring in fringe players and rest the stars, do whatever, but don’t run up the score like that.
