Ajax went into the final day of the season in with a chance of lifting the title, but despite their 3-1 win over Willem II, Feyenoord’s 3-1 win over Heracles confirmed them as champions.
Bosz said, ”I first want to congratulate Feyenoord on their first title in 18 years. It is great for all their supporters and they are worthy champions.
”We knew that we had to win today and that is what we did today. Unfortunately, it is not enough to be champions.
”We chose the players today on the basis of quality and fitness. Of course, the game against Lyon on Thursday played a role too in choosing the starting lineup.
”Ajax has grown this season. We finished 2nd with 81 points. This is a respectable amount. In other years that would have been enough to be champions . But our competitor this year was really strong from day one.
”We are looking forward to the Europa League final.”
