A late free kick saw Heracles Almelo end 2015 with a win as they beat Groningen 2-1.

bosz herVitesse’s win over Twente on Friday had seen Peter Bosz’s climb into fourth spot in the table, but the coach was in the stands on Saturday night to witness his son Gino ensure Heracles go into the winter break as the best of the rest after a last minute free kick.

Groningen opened the scoring just before the break with Bryan Linssen netting against his former club, but in the second half Heracles equalised when Brahim Darri set up Paul Gladon at the back post and the forward made no mistake from close range.

The game was heading for a draw until Gino Bosz, who was starting his first game of the season, sent a last minute free kick past Sergio Padt.

Heracles head into the new year in fourth, while Groningen are 7th.
