The Serbian midfielder declared last month that he was struggling mentally with being outside the starting eleven under Peter Bosz, and hasn’t made a first team appearance since then.
Bosz and Gudelj held talks earlier this week, but the players attitude has not changed and the coach told a press conference on Friday that the 25-year-old will not feature again for his side this year.
Bosz said, “He is going to train with Jong Ajax until the winter. If he is also going to play, I do not know. We were hoping he could think calmly during the international period, but he has not changed his mind. He has always had a good attitude, but I can not force him.”
The coach denied that he promised Gudelj a starting spot at the start of the season, “I also read that somewhere, but that’s nonsense. I do not make promises I can not keep. I also asked him and he said that it is nonsense. Nemanja feels he has to play. No more than that. He finds it difficult mentally to start on the bench. ”
Is there a way back for Gudelj with Ajax? Bosz concluded, “Until the winter break he does not return. I do not look further. “
I wonder if a Veijonvic for Gudelj trade could be worked out? Might be good for both players and teams.
