Bayer Leverkusen have climbed to third in the Bundesliga after a 3-1 win at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Peter Bosz’s side returned with a 4-1 win over Werder Bremen last week and headed to Monchengladbach full of confidence. Daley Sinkgraven once again started at left-back.

After only seven minutes, Kai Havertz gave Leverkusen the lead, but seven minutes into the second half, Marcus Thuram equalised. Havertz quickly restored the visitors lead before Sven Bender sealed the victory.

Bayer Leverkusen now climb above their rivals into third spot.

Elsewhere, Wout Weghorst returned for Wolfsburg but they lost 2-0 at home to Borussia Dortmund. Alfred Schreuder’s Hoffenheim drew 1-1 at bottom of the table Paderborn. Davy Klaassen got the assist as Werder Bremen got a crucial 1-0 win at Freiburg.
