Sven Botman has completed his move from Ajax to Lille. The centre-back has signed a five-year deal in France.

The 20-year-old made a big impression while on loan with Heerenveen last season and was expected to join the Ajax first-team this season. However, despite signing a new deal in Amsterdam, Botman has now departed for France.

Lille have paid €8 million for Botman, who signs a deal until 2025 and will wear the number five at his new club.

The centre-back told the club’s official website,  “I come from a big club, but I also join a big club here. Everyone I’ve met so far has been very nice and welcoming. I’m still young, but I hope I can help my new club as much as possible. “

Lille finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season and will play in the Europa League.
