Brentford have confirmed the signing of FC Twente midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo on a three-year deal.

The English Championship side have paid FC Twente an initial fee of €1 million to sign the 26-year-old South African.

Brentford head coach Dean Smith told the club’s official site, “I am pleased that we have been able to add Kamo to our group now he has become available. He is a player that we have been looking at for a while and we are sure he will fit into the system and style that we have here.

“Kamo is a defensive midfielder who can break play up, cover a lot of ground and use the ball intelligently. He is a player that will certainly add to the qualities we already have within the squad.”

Mokotjo moved to the Netherlands in 2009, joining Feyenoord, where he spent four years before leaving for PEC Zwolle. In 2014, Mokotjo joined FC Twente and made 97 Eredivisie appearances for the club, scoring three times.
