Brian Brobbey scored twice as Netherlands U21s defeated neighbours Belgium 2-1 in a friendly.

Before the game it was confirmed that Brobbey and Ryan Gravenberch would join up with the Netherlands squad to cover for the injured Memphis Depay, Frenkie de Jong and Teun Koopmeiners. However, both started against Belgium.

After 14 minutes, Brobbey brushed off two Belgian defenders before firing Netherlands in front.

Quinten Timber and Xavi Simons came close for Jong Oranje before Brobbey headed in a second before the break.

After the break, Brobbey and Gravenberch were brought off and Belgium began to take control. Olivier Deman pulled one back, but the Belgians could not find an equaliser as Netherlands defended well.

Thijs Dallinga made his U21s debut before the end as Netherlands sealed the win. Next up is another friendly against Romania next Tuesday.
