Brian Brobbey is hoping that his performances for Ajax have impressed Louis van Gaal enough to pick him for the World Cup.

On Friday, Brobbey was named the Eredivisie talent of the month after netting five times in four games. After accepting the award, he spoke with ESPN, “That’s great for me of course, I’m also grateful to my teammates, without them I wouldn’t make it.”

Brobbey is in the Netherlands provisional squad for the World Cup and he is hoping that he makes the cut next week, “Of course I was very happy, now we can only hope that I will be there. There are a lot of strikers who are doing well at the moment. I’m doing well too, so yeah, we’ll see.”

During the previous internationals, Brobbey was called into the squad and spoke with Van Gaal, “We had a conversation. He asked who I was and what I do. That was just a great conversation. Of course he knew, but he wanted to know from me personally. So I said, I’m Brian Brobbey, I live there and there.

The forward has a good impression of the national team coach, “I think he is a very calm trainer, who can be very fierce at times, he does put you on edge. But if you’re just in the hotel, it’s very quiet.”
