camNEC Nijmegen’s win over ADO Den Haag earlier on Sunday saw Cambuur drop to 18th place in the table, and piled the pressure on ahead of the meeting between the league’s two promoted sides.

However Cambuur started the game a determined side and brilliantly took the lead on 18 minutes with Marcel Ritzmaier rifling a shot into the top corner from just outside the box.

Go Ahead Eagles started the second half well, but Cambuur doubled their lead on 65 minutes as Martijn Barto looped a great header into the net from a corner.

Cambuur comfortably held on for the last 25 minutes, with the away side unable to find any way back into the match. The win moves Cambuur up to 14th place, while Go Ahead stay 10th.
