Cambuur’s impressive start to the season continued on Sunday as they defeated Utrecht 2-1.

The game in Leeuwarden had to be stopped twice in the first half due to fans invading the stadium and setting of fireworks, which has been a common theme of this weekend’s Eredivisie action.

When play was able to continue, Cambuur did take the lead in the 20th minute with Roberts Uldrikis netting from close range. That lead only lasted ten minutes before Moussa Sylla equalised for Utrecht with a deflected effort.

Jamie Jacobs restored Cambuur’s lead in the 54th minute and that proved to be the winner with Utrecht unable to find a way through the host’s defence.

Cambuur are seventh and now only two points behind Utrecht, who remains fourth.
