Cambuur got their second win of the campaign with a 3-0 victory against an out-of-sorts PSV Eindhoven on Saturday.

Before the international break, PSV defeated Feyenoord 4-3 which put them top of the table. They were looking to maintain that position against a Cambuur side that had only one win so far.

Cambuur, without suspended head coach Henk de Jong, had some good chances in the first-half but Jamie Jacobs, Daniël van Kaam and Remco Balk all could not find a way past Walter Benitez.

PSV were lackluster but they did create some opportunities. Ismail Saibari went close twice, while Cody Gakpo also failed to find the net.

Ten minutes into the second half, Silvester van der Water put Cambuur in front with an excellent strike from distance.

Van Nistelrooy decided to intervene, with Xavi Simons and Saibari going off for Silvio and Yorbe Vertessen brought in. Shortly afterwards, PSV got a big chance but Ibrahim Sangare failed to finish. Armando Obispo put a header wide, while Gakpo also failed to finish with just the Cambuur keeper to beat.

The hosts punished PSV for their poor finishing as Mitchel Paulissen finished off a good team move to make it 2-0. Sai van Wermeskerken then hammered in a third before the end to complete a miserable afternoon for van Nistelrooy’s side.

PSV drops to second in the table without Ajax even playing, while Cambuur is in 13th.
