The young forward returned to the Eredivisie last season, after hardly playing with Inter Milan, and netted only 16 times in 51 appearances with Twente.\
However, Castaignos has started this campaign well, and last week scored a hat-trick for the Dutch U-21’s in a 6-0 thrashing of Georgia.
The striker has now stated that he feels he is getting back to his optimum fitness levels, and is happy with how he is playing.
Castaignos told NUsport, “I’m comfortable in my skin again. It’s nice to sit. At Junior It’s always fun and always laughing,”
“At FC Twente its been nice the past few weeks, i scored the winner against Cambuur, and there is no better feeling than that.”
” My body was not in top form last season. I had a lot of aches, after I had hardly played at Internazionale for a year. Now the body feels good again,’
Twente currently sit top of the Eredivisie table, with Castaignos netting four goals in eight matches so far this campaign.
This why future Dutch talents must not lose their minds when offered bigger money at such a young age. Bas Dost, Ricky VFW and Luuk De Jong(specifically) left too soon and just might not be as good as they think. And if you don’t play it severely hampers your growth. Ask Babel(biggest flop ever) and Drenthe both had high expectations but did not even come close.
And the one that may be the worst Van Ginkel. Goes to Chelsea hardly plays then gets a start and blows his knee. Too much pressure on him and his body couldn’t do what he felt his mind told too. Afellay all over again.
