Virgil van Dijk and Frenkie de Jong both picked up awards during the draw for the Champions League group stages on Thursday.

After lifting the trophy with Liverpool last season, Virgil van Dijk was named the Champions League defender of the season.

Frenkie de Jong was then picked as the midfielder of the season after helping Ajax reach the semi-finals.

Van Dijk is the second Dutch defender to win the award after Jaap Stam, while De Jong follows in the footsteps of Clarence Seedorf and Wesley Sneijder.
