Frenkie de Jong got a wonderful assist as Barcelona started their Champions League campaign with a comfortable 5-1 win over Ferencvaros.

Ronald Koeman named a strong line-up for the visit of the Hungarian side, but it took until the 27th minute for Lionel Messi to give Barcelona the lead from the penalty spot.

Frenkie de Jong then provided a moment of magic with a wonderful ball over the Ferencvaros defence to set up Ansu Fati to fire Barcelona 2-0 up in the 42nd minute.

Phillipe Coutinho added a third before Gerard Pique was sent off in the 68th minute after conceding a penalty, which was scored by Ihor Kharatin.

Despite playing with ten men, Barcelona added a fourth through Pedri before Oussama Dembele wrapped up the win late on.

Koeman’s side go top of the group ahead of Juventus, who defeated Dynamo Kiev earlier in the day.
